The Power of Your Words: What Are You Creating?
Have you ever stopped to consider just how much power your words carry?
The things we say to others, the stories we repeat, and even the quiet conversations we have with ourselves can shape how we experience life. Words can encourage, uplift, and heal. They can also reinforce fear, judgment, and beliefs that no longer serve us.
In this week's Sunday for the Soul, Reverend Cynthia Alice Anderson explores the first agreement from Don Miguel Ruiz's beloved book, The Four Agreements: Be Impeccable With Your Word.
Words Have the Power to Create
Drawing from the opening of the Gospel of John, Cynthia Alice reminds us that the creative power of the word is deeply rooted in spiritual tradition.
But this teaching isn't simply about ancient scripture. It's about the words we choose today.
What are we creating when we speak about ourselves? What happens when we repeat a negative story about someone else? And how often do we unconsciously accept another person's opinion as truth?
These are the questions at the heart of this week's message.
The Agreements We Make Without Realizing It
Sometimes a careless comment can stay with us for years. Someone questions our appearance, our abilities, or our worth, and suddenly we begin questioning ourselves.
Other times, we participate in gossip or judgment without recognizing the effect our words can have.
Cynthia Alice invites us to become aware of these patterns and remember that we don't have to accept every opinion or judgment that comes our way.
When we recognize the divine presence within ourselves, we can begin releasing beliefs that diminish our sense of wholeness.
Choosing Words That Heal
Being impeccable with our word doesn't mean we will never make mistakes. It means becoming more intentional about the energy, honesty, and love behind what we say.
Can we speak with greater kindness? Can we encourage rather than criticize? Can we become more aware of the words we direct toward ourselves?
The invitation is simple: become just a little more conscious.
This week's episode also includes a guided meditation with Henry Oliver, who uses the beautiful imagery of planting seeds to help us reflect on the words and thoughts we bring into the world.
A Question for Your Week
What am I creating with my words?
As you move through the coming days, consider the conversations you have with others and with yourself. Notice where your words create connection, peace, and possibility.
And remember that every moment offers another opportunity to choose love.
